Miami Escorts: `America’s Most Wanted’ fugitive found at Miami Springs hotel
A registered sex offender on the run from a Texas halfway house — and who was to be featured on America’s Most Wanted this weekend — was caught at a Miami Springs hotel Friday, before the show even aired.
Billy Twayne Gibson, 33, was arrested before sunrise Friday morning after Miami Springs police received a tip that he was staying at the La Quinta Inn on Northwest 36th Street, across the street from Miami International Airport.
After serving seven years behind bars following a conviction of sexually assaulting a child, Gibson was sent to a halfway house where he cut off his ankle bracelet and fled about a week ago, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A Texas court deemed Gibson a “sexually violent predator” and he has a criminal record for aggravated sexual assault, aggravated robbery, unlawful carrying of a weapon and compelling prostitution by force or threat, according to law enforcement officials.
