Miami police cracking down on high-crime areas
By Margaux Herrera The Miami Herald
Eighty-seven arrests were made in a two-day police operation that targeted Miami neighborhoods.
By Margaux Herrera
During a two-day crackdown this month, the Miami Police Department made 87 arrests for drugs, prostitution, gang activity and robberies.
“What you want to do is get these criminals off the street and continue with good, aggressive policing,’’ said Miami Major David Magnusson, who leads Operation Resilience.
Wednesday and Friday’s effort was aimed in Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Flagami and Coral Way.
It was the third in a series of operations to target crime in different parts of Miami since December.
A total of 308 arrests have been made, Magnusson said.
He believes that by targeting the most problematic areas, crime will improve significantly.

Lets then say you take absolutely no care and sleep with anyone willy nilly. Your odds of getting a female with AIDS is 1 in @ 4970.
Lets go with the pro in the Knox news sentinal article who said on average, heterosexual intercourse between an infected person and a non infected person results in transmission of the disease about “one in a thousand times.” (I assume this is without a condom)
Right off the bat that puts your odds of getting AIDS through heterosexual sex at about 1 in 5 million.
Most “Normal” people I imagine would also stay away from the IV drug users, hemophiliacs, known disease carriers, prostitutes and other high risk people. Also conceding a man less likely to receive the disease then a women because of the nature of sex, the odds of a man getting AIDS from a female are pretty low.

The Jan. 24 meeting drew a crowd that packed the council chambers, with a spillover audience watching from the lobby as the council heard public comment about a plan to privatize the citys garbage services. The mayor and his supporters have said the plan would reduce garbage and trash collection fees; critics have said it would lead to uneven service and higher fees in the long run. The council passed the measure on second reading by a 3-2 vote, with council members Michael Blynn and Scott Galvin dissenting.
The proposal has been the subject of scandal and controversy for months. The mayors nephew and reelection campaign manager, Ricardo Brutus, was arrested in March for allegedly accepting $4,000 from a local businessman to ensure the ordinance was delayed until after the May election. Brutus was caught on tape describing his influence in City Hall, although he has denied wrongdoing, and Pierre has sought to distance himself from the case.
At a meeting last month, the mayor bristled when Blynn brought up his nephews arrest, and angrily referred to Blynns daughters as prostitutes a comment for which he later apologized.

Crowder, 28, who was released at the start of training camp last year and wound up sitting out the season, said his lack of respect for General Manager Jeff Ireland means he’s willing to talk to every team but Miami about returning for the 2012 season.
“I wouldn’t go on a team with Jeff Ireland. I’m not very confident in him,” said Crowder, who has been hosting his Miami-based radio show from Indy all week. “He doesn’t know what he’s doing in my opinion. He’s real disrespectful; he doesn’t know how to deal with people and the whole Dez Bryant (situation) kind of showed to the world what he’s about, but guys in the building know what he’s really about.”
Ireland came under a torrent of criticism after reportedly asking Bryant probing questions about his mother regarding prostitution and drug use in interviews leading up to the 2010 draft. He subsequently apologized.

So, for all of the Jeff Ireland haters, you can at least confirm that Ireland prevented Crowder from joining the team. Remember, Ireland asked Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant if his mom was a prostitute, after the then draft prospect said his dad had been a pimp, and his mom worked for his dad. The story leaked, and the media and fans, both of the Dolphins and around the league, blasted Ireland for his improper question. Ireland later apologized for it.
