FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – Florida’s poor can use food stamps to buy staples like milk, vegetables, fruits and meat. But they can also use them to buy sweets like cakes, cookies and Jell-O and snack foods like chips, something a state senator wants stopped.
Sen. Ronda Storms, R-Valrico, also wants to limit other welfare funds, known as Temporary Assistance For Needy Families, from being used at ATMs in casinos and strip clubs and anywhere out of state. The bill comes after reports that the debit cards welfare recipients now receive were used in those places, as well as locations in Las Vegas and the Virgin Islands in a small percentage of cases, but the state does not track what items were purchased.

Former Miami Hurricane and current Washington Redskin Rocky McIntosh was a guest on D.C. area sports radio show this morning, and on the day after national signing day the hosts had recruiting on their mind. They started throwing questions at McIntosh about what part strip clubs and hot girls may have played in his decision to attend the U. Well, McIntosh happened to have his phone on speaker, and his wife overheard. Things didn’t go so well.

Apparently Rocky’s wife Natalie is a U alum as well, and the two met on Rocky’s first day of classes. Rachel Brown’s attorneys are accusing Michael Brown of spending “community” money his wife might be entitled to, which, based on David Brown’s questioning, include: $7 million for a boat — and $750,000 for a house — in Miami; the leasing of a Bentley or Mercedes to a woman in New York City (who’s also suing Michael Brown for allegedly giving her anal and vaginal herpes); and $60,000 a month on four strippers, among other exorbitant expenditures. (Oddly, David Brown also asked Cave if he knew anything about Brown allegedly flying 1,400 lbs. of clothing to Miami on his private plane.)

Just a note: we were a little hurt when Kuehn, in addressing the stripper issue, mentioned that the allegations about Stacy Shey and other young women originally surfaced in “some article in some newspaper,” instead of mentioning the Press by name. He also could’ve been courteous enough to give a shout-out to tabloid site TheDirty.com, which originally posted a photo of his freaking client taking a photo of him with a stripper who can be found inserting an arsenal of apparatuses into her orifices on many a web site . Then comes media day on Tuesday, followed by incessant coverage of events that normally you wouldn’t care about, but are covered by reporters simply to make it seem to their bosses that they’re actually working on Super Bowl week —so that bosses don’t wise up and decide to not fly them in until Friday night.
The media will make stories out of anything, and that includes your town. If the weather is nice and the food is good, expect rave reviews. If the weather is crappy, expect to be heavily criticized.
And that’s where this slideshow with the obscenely long intro and jokes about strippers comes in. Even though there are 31 metropolitan areas home to NFL franchises (I’m counting Oakland/San Francisco as one since it is the “Bay Area”), only 13 of them have thus far been home to Super Bowls, with that number only climbing to 15 by 2015.

In fact, Knoxville has a host of gay bars and gay-friendly churches. It just goes to show you that where there are haters, there are subcultures to counter-balance those haters and create a welcoming environment for all.
Atlanta, Georgia. Gettin’ down in the ATL ain’t just for breeders anymore! Called the “gay capitol of the South” Atlanta has such places as Swinging Richards, an all-male all-nude strip club. Hotlanta even incorporates school pride by having a gay sports bar called Woofs (in tribute to the University of Georgia Bulldogs). It’s not all about the men, though. There is an online community called Labrys Atlanta which focuses on culture from the lesbian point of view.
