FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Zac Robinson has little doubt that his most talented target in college will have an outstanding pro career.
After all, Dez Bryant was the second wide receiver taken in this month’s draft after a strong career at Oklahoma State.
“He makes plays,” the Cowboys former quarterback said Friday. “He’s going to do great.”
But Robinson, chosen in the seventh round by the New England Patriots, was less forthcoming about Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland asking Bryant during a predraft interview if his mother ever was a prostitute.
Robinson wouldn’t discuss his opinion of the question
“I don’t know,” he said after his first workout at the Patriots’ three-day rookie camp. “I really can’t say.”
Ireland has apologized, and Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said Friday that Ireland “is well deserving of my continued confidence” and that he considers “the matter closed.”

ESPN – Dez Bryant has denied that a question from Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland in a predraft interview asking if his mother was a prostitute was prompted by something Bryant said.
“No, I didn’t tell him my dad was a pimp,” Bryant said in a text message to ESPN’s Ed Werder on Thursday.
A league source told ESPN.com’s Matt Mosley details of the conversation first reported by SI.com earlier Friday were accurate. During the meeting, the source said, Ireland asked Bryant — during a talk about Bryant’s upbringing and relationship with family members — what his father did for a living when Bryant was growing up, which apparently prompted this exchange:
Bryant: “My dad was a pimp.”

Ireland: “Your mom was a prostitute?”

Dolphins owner: Team will better interview process

DAVIE, Fla. — The owner of the Miami Dolphins says the team will “make improvements” to its player interviewing practices, responding to the fallout from general manager Jeff Ireland asking former Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant whether his mother was ever a prostitute.
In a short statement Friday afternoon, owner Stephen Ross said Ireland “is well deserving of my continued confidence” and that he considers “the matter closed.”
Ireland apologized to Bryant earlier this week after Yahoo! Sports reported that he posed the question several weeks ago during a pre-draft interview.
